Pengerang Battery - British Army's Big Blunder


The small town of Pengerang in Johor has a big story to tell - a 75 years old tale of the British Army's huge blunder. It's of a town which become the British Army's "Waterloo" in 1936, when they paid the price for underestimating its biggest nemesis than - the Japanese army. The Japanese invaders and captured Malaya without a single shot being fired from the Pengerang battery when they surprised the British by landing in Kota Baru instead of Singapore. The battery, located at Tanjung Pengelih, is said to be the biggest defence fort outside the United Kingdom. It sits on a 610 ha plot of land overlook into Changi and Tokong Besar Island belong to Singapore.

The Famous Tanjung Malim Pau


Yik Mun Restaurant...this is where you can find the famous Tanjung Malim pau. The dumplings come with spice-flavoured minced chicken and beef fillings as well as a sweet red peanut and kaya filling. Yik Mun has been around since 1926 and made by the Hainanese Kok family.

Teluk Intan Leaning Tower


There may be the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, but in Malaysia, we have our own version too. Known as the Teluk Intan Leaning Tower, the 25 meter tower is shaped like a pagoda and was built in 1885 by a Chinese contractor, Leong Choon Choong. It located at Teluk Intan, one of a town in the state of Perak, 160km northwest of Kuala Lumpur. It started to tilt four years after its construction finished due to an underground stream.
