Madrasah (Religious school of) Muhammadiah Al-Diniah, Sabak Bernam

At the fringe of the town of Sabak Bernam there exist an old religious school named Muhammadiah Al-Diniah. Its building has a Malay traditional shape which is attractive.

Pengerang Battery - British Army's Big Blunder

The small town of Pengerang in Johor has a big story to tell - a 75 years old tale of the British Army's huge blunder. It's of a town which become the British Army's "Waterloo" in 1936, when they paid the price for underestimating its biggest nemesis than - the Japanese army. The Japanese invaders and captured Malaya without a single shot being fired from the Pengerang battery when they surprised the British by landing in Kota Baru instead of Singapore. The battery, located at Tanjung Pengelih, is said to be the biggest defence fort outside the United Kingdom. It sits on a 610 ha plot of land overlook into Changi and Tokong Besar Island belong to Singapore.

Teluk Intan Leaning Tower

There may be the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, but in Malaysia, we have our own version too. Known as the Teluk Intan Leaning Tower, the 25 meter tower is shaped like a pagoda and was built in 1885 by a Chinese contractor, Leong Choon Choong. It located at Teluk Intan, one of a town in the state of Perak, 160km northwest of Kuala Lumpur. It started to tilt four years after its construction finished due to an underground stream.

It's Sultan Abdul Samad Building Again

The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is the centrepiece of colonial architecture in Kuala Lumpur. Many historical events had been held in front of this building. Among them was the declaration of independence of Malaysia (Malaya then) on 31 August, 1957 and the lowering of the Union Jack. On 1 January 1982, the clock tower became the venue for another historic event when the time between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak were standardized. A prominent feature of the Sultan Abdul Samad building is the red bricks with the white plaster lined arches, gaining it the "Blood and Bandages Building" title. The building has three towers. The central clock tower and two smaller towers flanking it. All three towers are topped with onion shaped copper domes.

Petaling Jaya - Thai Buddhist Chetawan Temple

The Chetawan Temple, in Petaling Jaya start way back in 1956. The Structure of Chetawan Temple will show a very fine architecture as it is the Fine Arts Department of Thailand in Bangkok that was commissioned to draw up the architectural plan and to oversee the construction of the Temple building (the Main Shrine).

Batu Caves

Batu Caves is a limestone hill, which has a series of caves and cave temples, located 13 kilometres north of Kuala Lumpur. The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, dedicated to Lord Murugan and the main focal point of Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia. To reach the main temples, visitors have to climb a steep flight of 272 steps.

Other main attraction is the world's tallest statue of Lord Murugan standing at 140 feet unveiled in January 2006 and having taken 3 years to construct.

Among the four, the Sungai Palas Tea Center is definite must visit place to admire the breathtaking view from a 20 feet overhanging platform while enjoying a sip the golden brew of tea.

Old Sketch - Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz

Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz also known as the "Blue Mosque" located at Shah Alam, a capital state of Selangor. It officially open on 11th March 1988 and almost taken for 12 years in making (1975 - 1987) from the concept until it completed. Design by Malaysia's architect firm, Jurubina Bertiga Arketik, it's a second largest mosque in South East Asia after Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta, Indonesia. It got four minarets at height of 460 feet each and the second tallest minaret in the world after King Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca.

Tower Clock of Sultan Abdul Samad Building

The Sultan Abdul Samad building was constructed in 1897 and has long been a landmark for Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur. The unique Moorish-style building has a 41m clock tower, dubbed as Malaysia's 'Big Ben'.

The design of this building was undertaken by a British architect, A.C Norman, who worked for the Public Works Department at that time. In designing this building, he took into consideration some of the features of buildings in several Islamic countries. The predominantly Moorish appearance of the building suitably reflects the cultural background of Malaysia.

Arthur Benison Hubback, a British Architectural Assistant to the Director of Public Works, undertook the design of the station. Having served in India, he utilised his knowledge of Anglo-Asian architecture in the region on the station's design. The building completed in the year 1910.
